Not much has changed today for JoAnne... see below for brief updates!
LABS/MEDS- they've taken JoAnne off the propofol (a very heavy sedation) that she's been under since day one, as it's not the healthiest thing to keep her on long-term. They've changed it up for something a bit milder, taking care, though, to keep her blood pressure down (and her comfortable). She is moving around a bit more due to this, and we imagine she may be able to hear us all better, which is both good and bad, as we don't want her upset or stressed, no matter how relieving it might be to hear our voices. Her WBC is still high, as her body is now realizing there is a crisis to be fought... it's about time! Her other labs look ok, too- no changes to report.
WOUND VAC- there was a large trauma in the ICU today which delayed JoAnne's wound vac procedure until tomorrow. Will keep you posted on how that goes, but it should be the same as usual, but including the presence of two osteo surgeons who will assess and plan for her upcoming leg surgery.
STALKING- I found links for both of the trauma surgeons that have been working on JoAnne's case so far. You can read about their basic info, training, etc... Quite astounding talent JoAnne has! And we're already been ranting and raving about her nurses... pretty great people, and so accommodating to us about staying late or arriving early, answering our ridiculous amount of questions and worries, etc. Bless their hearts.

GRATITUDE- It's already/only been one week since JoAnne was admitted here. And 6 days longer than they have believed she would survive. We all feel such gratitude for her doctors, her nurses, her own fierce strength, and especially for you all. Your well-wishes, prayers, notes, texts, songs, photos, jokes and love have meant so much to us, and have allowed us to serve her to the best of our abilities. We are so very grateful for you!
More new after JoAnne's procedure tomorrow afternoon. As anxiety-inducing as it is not to be getting lots of juicy news, let's keep hoping for boring/stasis reports like today, as that means things haven't gotten worse! No news is good news, at this point.
