DAY 3 // Still Hanging In

Hello everyone,

JoAnne had a good night's sleep and there are no major changes to report, but they did seem to think she has "improved"... Her stats have remained much the same as yesterday- a few adjustments needing to be made with blood pressure, but her hemoglobin/hematocrit looking good, and her white blood count still low, but no lower than before.

Jani said that JoAnne seemed a bit responsive this morning, following Mom's movement with her head, which is great, as this means she may be hearing what's going on. The nurses will of course make sure that any slight trends toward consciousness do not compromise her comfort!

Speaking of nurses, they have been AMAZING. All extremely competent, loving and great with JoAnne. They've been following our requests that they continue to tell her that we are all here for her, sending our love from near and far, that she must be strong, etc. Since yesterday she will have three consecutive days with the same night and day nurses, which feels great for consistency's sake.
We will hopefully hear today about the plan for tomorrow's procedure, which will likely be similar to yesterday's. They want to continue to check for spread of bacteria, and are primarily focusing on her right pelvic bone, which is most at risk for infection at this point.
Your thoughts, prayers and support have meant so much. All of JoAnne's friends in Spain are banning together in solidarity, as are we all here in Portland and LA. Lean on one another, call one another, support one another. We are all in this together!
Much love,
Hannah, Price, Kelty & Jani
