Just wanted to let you know that JoAnne had a regular night's sleep, and has been been pretty much the same... See below for some small updates!
LABS- They are still working to increase her blood pressure a bit and her white blood cell count a LOT. Nothing has dropped, but it's not rising too quickly, either.
MEDS- Still going strong on antibiotic meds to keep the bacteria at bay...
ORGANS- Her colostomy worked, as she has been producing waste, which is GREAT news!
EATING- The doctors have decided that she is stable enough to put a feeding tube in, as they'd rather her begin to metabolize her own food, rather than rely on IV sustenance. This is great news, too! Mom told the nurse that we Stiers are "eaters", and that beginning to feed her is a really great idea on numerous levels. =)
She will have more surgery today at 11am, and it will be similar to what she had two days ago- cleaning the affected areas and making sure that no bacteria has spread, preparing her for future plastic/osteo surgeries, etc. This type of procedure will continue every two days into the near future, and she has remained stable through two, now, so we're predicting she'll do well today. Should last 1-3 hours like Thursday's.
If anything changes after her procedure today, we'll email you all! If everything remains stable and great, we'll follow up tomorrow with a new update.
Morale is high with so many incredible family and friends coming by. Jani was laughing yesterday, and eating, and so much family is drawing close around her, us and each other in support. We will be at Kelty's wedding tonight on the farm nearby, and a good friend may stay at the hospital. We've been told to call her nurses ANY time, so that feels good, too, and we'll be notified immediately if anything changes. We are looking forward to joining with even more friends and family to laugh, cry, dance and be merry for JoAnne, because that's what she would want!!!
Many thanks again to you all for your love, prayers and support. It means so much, and is really building a momentum toward her recovery. We can feel it, and we hope JoAnne can, too.
