Day 18 // R & R

Hey guys,

REST- JoAnne rested quite a bit today, which was really great to see. She slept an entire night last night, and napped through most of the day... much needed after what she's been through recently.

BLOOD- They've noticed that her blood hasn't been clotting too well (her "clotting factor" is a bit high?), so they'll be keeping an eye on that and providing frozen plasma (among other things) to counter balance it. If she were to have another surgery, they'd want her to be able to clot well so as not to lose blood (or lose more blood from her current wound sites), so it's good they're considering these issues and acting on them.

STATS- Her stats have seemed stable, with her blood pressure decent and her breathing normal. Her WBC seems to still be within range, which is great, though she still is running a bit of a fever. They're keeping an eye on it, of course.

PROCEDURES- Docs said her wound sites look better today, and there has been nothing to suggest that her abdominal infection has spread or worsened. Woot! Tomorrow and Monday she'll go in for individual cleanings of her abdomen and leg wounds. These cleaning OR procedures will continue to happen every few days to insure that no other infections begin, and assuming the surgeons were able to clear out the fluke bile leak properly, she shouldn't be at risk for any severe internal infections, for the most part.

Much love to you all!

PS- See below for a photo Lindsey Stier took of JoAnne when she visited a year or two ago. We're all pretty sure we recognize the background of JoAnne's favorite Japanese Restaurant...
