Hey all,
It's been a week since the last update, and not much has changed... JoAnne is still improving!
She had another wound vac procedure yesterday (Thursday), and all went well. They were not able to close her wound up completely (as hoped), but things are still progressing, and she may even be able to have her final few wound vac procedures done in her hospital room from now on. We'll keep you posted as we know more about that... they may be able to close her wound up for good if infection can be avoided... All great progress.
She had a restful week with Mike after Jani & Jan went back home on Monday. She received visits from Justin, Nick & Susan, and has been making and taking calls to/from friends and family. She's been working hard on her PT and OT, and has been able to sit up in a special chair for longer periods of time. JoAnne is very eager to get back to Spain to continue her rehab, and we're just waiting on all the paperwork to go through... it's a complicated process, her insurance. We've been told that the doctors/surgeons will not release her until they are certain she's improved enough to travel safely and be under the care of a fantastic doctor, but are expecting that time may be in the next 2-4 weeks. Wowza!
Many thanks again to all of you who have been sending her notes (she can now check her email- not responding every time, but reading!) and calling her. Her spirits are high, she motivated to improve and get back on her feet (literally and figuratively). We're so proud of her.
